Reginald X was crowned in 581 after the death of his father, Andnanth IV. Reginald was always known to be quiet and withdrawn. Reginald X had no interest in marrying, but was forced into an arranged marriage with Maria of Navarea in 583. She was a striking beauty, but he seemed more interested in reading the works of the ancients.
Reginald and Maria had two sons, Damian and Montregius. Damian was withdrawn, like his father, while Montregius was more like his mother, and was very gregarious. In 598, Damian met the future Henry, Duke of Longmont when they were hunting with their fathers. Neither of them was interested in hunting, but went along as they were forced. Reginald X did not enjoy hunting much either, but had some issues do discuss with Longmont. Damian saw each other and had an immediate attraction to each other. Damian and Henry fell in love, and would periodically visit each other. Damian would later refuse the throne so he could live in peace with Henry. Henry died in 626 in his lover’s arms. Damian died the following year.
